The Southern District is at the forefront of promoting soil health among agricultural producers.

Through the Soil Health Initiative, the district encourages farmers to take proactive steps in understanding and improving their soil quality. As part of this effort, farmers who register as members of the Southern SWCD receive a complimentary soil test provided by the University of Guam (UOG) Soil Lab. Once the results are in, farmers are referred to the UOG Cooperative Extension & Outreach (CEO) for tailored recommendations to enhance their soil’s health and productivity. This initiative reflects Southern SWCD’s commitment to supporting farmers with the tools and knowledge they need for sustainable agriculture, fostering healthier soils and more resilient farming practices across Guam.
