The Southern Guam Soil and Water Conservation District’s (SWCD) Stewardship Program encourages Guam’s residents to take an active role in preserving our natural resources. Our Stewardship Initiatives
Stewardship Week Campaign
Each year, Southern SWCD participates in the nationwide Stewardship Week, raising awareness about the importance of soil, water, and environmental conservation.
Community Engagement: Hosting workshops, events, and activities to inspire action and educate the public about conservation practices.
Annual Theme: Incorporating creative campaigns aligned with NACD’s Stewardship Week theme to promote sustainable practices across Guam.
Annual Poster Contest
The Annual Poster Contest is an opportunity for students to showcase their creativity while learning about conservation.
Youth Engagement: Open to students of all ages, encouraging them to express their ideas about environmental stewardship through art.
Recognition: Winning posters are celebrated locally and may advance to regional or national competitions.
Educators Symposium
The Educators Symposium provides teachers with the tools and resources to incorporate conservation education into their classrooms.
Professional Development: Participants earn CEU credits while learning about conservation best practices and innovative teaching methods.
Interactive Sessions: Workshops and hands-on activities designed to inspire educators and students alike.
Conservation Stewardship Scholarship
The Stewardship Scholarship supports students pursuing studies in agriculture, environmental science, or related fields.
